Duties and Responsibilities

The person appointed will be based in the Health and Social Surveys Research Group in the Research Department of Epidemiology and Public Health. They will be a member of CeLSIUS, a seven-person team across three departments in UCL. The team provides support mainly to academics undertaking research projects using the ONS LS. The postholder will be involved in facilitating use of the ONS LS by UK academic researchers and students and statutory sector users. Core elements include project planning and development; statistical computing, running syntax for remote users, data checking for clearance for all users and liaison and cooperation with other team members, other UCL, ONS, and the wider user community.

This post is funded by the ESRC and is available from 1 July 2018 until 30th September 2020 in the first instance.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate will have a PhD degree in quantitative Social Science, Applied Statistics, Computing or other related discipline and substantial experience of using statistical software. Experience of data management, quantitative longitudinal data analysis and an ability to write scientific reports clearly and quickly and present work publicly are all key requirements.
